Gooseberry Park Players is excited to produce Beauty & The Beast as their 2021 summer musical. Based on the 1991 animated classic, the stage version of Disney's Beauty & the Beast includes all the wonderful original songs written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, along with new songs by Alan Menken and Tim Rice. The show also features an adapted libretto by Linda Woolverton. The Broadway production ran for over thirteen years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end, and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out! If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

The "tale as old as time" will be performed July 20-25 at Horizon Middle School's Performing Arts Center in Moorhead. Ticket info and GPP's Covid-19 Preparedness Plan can be found here.

A Note From Our Managing Artistic Director

Thank you SO much to everyone who came out and auditioned for this summer's production. You all did a fantastic job, and the artistic team was very impressed! We easily could have cast this show so many different ways.

As I'm sure you all read at the auditions, we unfortunately had to limit our cast size for Beauty and the Beast. We wish we could offer roles to everyone who auditioned, but we are trying to keep the cast size a bit smaller, so that we can keep every student's health and safety a priority while we are still dealing with the effects of COVID-19. We hope you understand! Hopefully, we will be back to full capacity for next summer's show!

Congratulations to all those cast in the show! To those who did not get cast, you are all so talented and we wish we could offer you spots this summer. If you are still interested in being a part of the Gooseberry Park Players family, you are invited to join our crew/tech team this summer. If you are interested in this option, please email me at gppdirector@gmail.com! If you are not interested in participating in a crew/tech position, we hope that you will audition again next year, when we should be able to go back to our larger program size!

Thank you all for coming! We really loved seeing you all shine!

All the best,

Ryan Scoble, Managing Artistic Director
